Kinda Feels Like the US, Except People Speak Spanish

After spending a luxurious night in the Sheraton and eating a tasty but pricey buffet breakfast, Sam and I took off for Casco Viejo, an old section of Panama.  We mostly just meandered around the neighborhood, stopping for awhile in Interoceancio, a pretty interesting museum that gives the history of the Panama Canal and got a glimpse of the presidential castle, before stopping for a late leisurely lunch at this little restaurant called Rene Cafe where you have the choice of chicken, fish, pork, or vegetarian, and then they give you all this delicious food for $8.50.

New Header Banner!

We've updated our banner, what do you think? We took a little inspiration from one of my favorite bands, Flight of the Conchords:

Bag (Almost) Lost and Room Given Away at the Hostel!

I'm a bad news first kinda person, so it's nice that we're not starting out our South American Adventure (SAA) with smooth sailing. After a delicious, but super overpriced last meal in the States of lox and bagels at Barney Greengrass, we made it to to our gate at JFK without any problems. Our COPA flight to Panama City was only a few gates from the flight going to Moscow, so we got some great Russian watching in while we savored our last pints of Sam Adams. You know you're Russian if: you talk on your cellphone at least once at the bar, your face defaults to a scowl, and you have a taste for horrible grey sweaters or other "fashionable tops" (that don't seem to be in fashion outside of Moscow). Tickets checked, we got into our seats and took off for a 5hr flight.

Packed and Headed to New York!

Everything we are bringing for our Latin American adventure
After spending literally the entire day yesterday cleaning our house, preparing our room for our friend Abbie to move in (thanks for taking care of Leo!), and running last-minute errands, we are finally packed and are now sitting on the Bolt Bus to NYC.  It is amazing how much stuff we crammed into 2 80-liter bags.

Blog is Bought

Well it's official, we have a blog so it means this is actually happening. Bev and I are leaving to travel around South America for 6 months. Our flight is on the 28th to Panama City, and from there we begin our adventures.
